A long history of success
Sun Metal Products was founded in 1946 by a tool and die maker in Warsaw, Ind., who left his job to make parts for tricycles in a plant of his own. Initially his new company manufactured a wire-spoke wheel line for baby carriages and tricycles, as well as stamping tricycle seats. Some years later the Sun founder developed larger wheels for high-wheel lawnmowers, garden utility vehicles, pony carts and wheel chairs. Twenty years later, Sun Metal began producing alloy rims for high-performance off-road motorcycle racing. In the 1980s, Sun also began developing high-end alloy rims for bicycles, utility vehicles and wheelchairs. In the 1990s Sun expanded their production facilities and built a manufacturing plant in China to meet the needs of the growing Asian bicycle manufacturing industry.
